The File menu offers the following commands:
| Wizard | Opens the filter graph wizard. |
| New | Creates a new document. |
| Open | Opens an existing document. |
| Save | Saves an opened document using the same file name. |
| Save As | Saves an opened document to a specified file name. |
| Export | Export submenu. |
| Open Media File | Opens an existing media file, e.g. a mpeg file. |
| Open URL | Opens an URL with media content. |
| Prints a document. | |
| Print Preview | Displays the document on the screen as it would appear printed. |
| Print Setup | Selects a printer and printer connection. |
| Save As Image | Saves the graph view as an image. |
| Connect to Graph | Connects the Workbench Application to a DirectShow® Graph exported by an other application. |
| Disconnect Graph | Disconnect Graph a DirectShow® Graph from an other application. |
| Exit | Exits the MontiVision Workbench . |
