The Region Of Interest (ROI) concept
If input and output ROI are set, only the image data inside the
input ROI is processed and copied to the output ROI. In most cases
the input ROI will be set in the same manner as the output ROI, so
that the processed image region appears at it's original position.
The following example shows how an image region is displaced if
input and output ROI are different.
Example:
Different input and output ROI
Result:
The following images show how the result will look like. The
left result is obtained if the background copy option is enabled,
the right result is obtained if the background copy option is
disabled.
The Channel Of Interest (COI)
The channel of interest is used to specify which color channel
shall be processed by the filter algorithm. Filters provide the
functionality to process all the channels of an image or a single
channel. If a single channel is processed, the result can be copied
to a different output channel.
Example:
The following image is processed by a linear sobel
filter.
Result:
| All channels processed. |
Green input channel processed and copied to the red output
channel. |
